750 years ago. Stockport Market received its Market Charter making the existing market legitimate.As part of Stockport's 750th anniversary celebrations, a historic Street market with stalls from 1260 to 2010 will be hosted in the market place. Experience the hustle and bustle, along with the colours and sounds of Medieval Stockport through to the present day.

Vernon Mill artists have been invited to take part in this event and we are presently arranging this. Do come along and enjoy the event and come along and say hello.


Stockport Heritage Event

Vernon mill Artists is pleased to announce that once again that we are taking part in this annual event.
Vernon Mill is a Grade 2 Listed former Cotton Mill and recently featured in the BBC1 programme -Inside Out about how the North west is using its mills to ever growing communities of artists. Since its inception of 6 artists in 2001 Vernon Mill now houses nearly 50 artists.

Studios will be open the weekend of 11th/12th September to celebrate Stockport's heritage. Studios will be open 10-4pm.

You can talk to artists and see them in their studios.
Some studios maybe also open Thursday /Friday 9th/10th Artwork for sale.
There will be 3 workshops available over the weekend.
Spaces are limited and are likely to book quickly so if you are interested you should contact Stockport Tourist Information Office to book a space.

Exploring one or two printmaking approaches that can be undertaken later in your own home, with the purchase of a few easily found items. Bring protective clothing(old shirt or apron, gloves) It can get messy. Everything else provided.

Introduction to modelling a figure with John Buttery
10-12pm 16+ Max 10 people

Learn the basics of constructing a small figure sculpture from air hardened clay on a wire armature. The finished sculpture can then be displayed provided it is kept indoors. All materials provided-just bring an apron and/or wear old clothes.

Annual Open Studio Exhibition

Our Annual Open studio event will take place this year at the beginning of October.
With over 46 studios on the 3rd and 4th floors there will be plenty of art on show.
All artwork will be on sale.

The Preview Evening is Friday 1st Oct. 7-9pm
Refreshments and live music.

Free event

The studios will be open for the weekends of 2nd/3rd 9th/10th October 10am-4pm.
There will be all genres of art. Come along and talk to the artists in the studios and see them at work.
